Technical Specification and Requirements

Livestock Auctions System Technical Specification and Requirements are:

  • Satellite Connectivity:

Livestock Auctions can utilize a Premium Business Satellite Service (YahClick) from Vox Telecom This service is completely mobile and can be used in remote areas of South Africa where alternative network connectivity is not available.

Premium Business Package Speed: 15Mbps Download and 3Mbps upload "Vox Telecom in partnership with Al Yah Satellite Communications Company PJSC (Yahsat) in Abu Dhabi deployed Yahsat's new Y1B satellite with Ka-band technology and has 55 active spot beams via Ka multi-spot beams with an EIRP (Equivalent Isotropically Radiated Power) of up to 66 dBW and reusable frequencies to maximize spectrum efficiency. While traditional satellite technology utilizes broad single beams covering entire continents and regions, YahClick's Ka-band spot beams provide coverage over highly targeted areas (a smaller footprint on the ground), which simply means more reliability, greater efficiency on the ground, smaller antennas and lower costs for the end user, as well as the elimination of issues with spectrum availability. The Hughes CPE Terminal can support speeds of up to 16Mbps,"

  • Alternative and other data Connectivity

Alternatively Livestock Auctions also utilize MTN and Vodacom 3G/HSDPA enabled Mobile Broadband Routers to add additional bandwidth to the Auction process and to facilitate an alternate backup link if required Mobile Hydraulically operated 3G/HSDPA Antenna Mast provides maximum signal strength gains of up to 11dBi.

  • Mobile Server and Equipment Cabinet used at offsite auction sites:

Livestock Auctions use a custom Server and Equipment Cabinet to transport all the equipment to the Auction premises as follow:

  • Multiple Large Format LED TV Screens connect via HDMI cables to the HDMI Multiport Switch in the Cabinet to provide visually optimized access to the Online Auction bidding process WiFi Certified Access Points are used to facilitate better placement of all the various computer equipment used in the Online Auction process and to minimize cables on the floor space;
  • Multiple Computers are used for the various Online Auction functions;
  • Admin PC to update the live bidding information;
  • Standby Admin notebook to assist in live bidding and manage Online Auction settings;
